NOTICE OF PROPERTY TAX INCREASE

The Pierce County Board of Education has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 1.86 percent.

All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at the Pierce County Board of Education, 834 E. Main Street, Blackshear, GA on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 6:00pm.

Times and places of additional public hearings on this tax increase are at Pierce County Board of Education on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 8:00am and Monday, October 16, 2023 at 6:30pm. 

This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 14.000 mills, an increase of 0.255 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 13.745 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $125,000 is approximately $12.24 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $75,000 is approximately $7.65.

 

HB 139 Financial Data Reporting: Published by the Georgia Department of Education

HB 139 requires the aggregation and publication of a variety of financial information for all school districts, such as revenue and expenditure data, capital construction costs, recent audits, and similar reports.  All of the information on this site consists of data and other information which the Georgia Department of Education already collects and in most cases published in some existing form, or is collected and published by another department within the state government such as the Department of Audits and Accounts.  HB 139 requires the centralization of this information into a single website, which is the purpose of this new reporting system.
