K-2 Title I Extravaganza

Join us on Thursday, October 25 from 5:30-7:30!  Meet with your child's teacher to learn of his/her progress, enjoy a free delicious meal and second grade musical entertainment, and have the opportunity to win a raffle drawing.  We hope to see you there!

Math Strategies Table Talk Workshop

math symbolsOur third "Table Talk" workshop will take place on Wednesday, November 7 from 12:00-1:00 pm here at BES.  Join us to learn math strategies to help your child at home.  Reserve your spot by Friday, November 2.

Tech Club & Robotics Team Parent Meeting

Okefenokee Regional technology fair symbolBES is hosting a parent informational meeting on Wednesday, October 17 at 3:30 for parents of any student interested in participating in the Technology Fair (grades 3-5) and our first Robotics team (grades 4 & 5).  

Book Bag Policy

Pierce County Schools has not changed our current book bag policy for the upcoming 2018-19 school year. Students will not be required to bring clear or see-through book bags to school.

State School Superintendent Richard Woods' Visit

We want to thank State School Superintendent Richard Woods for visiting our schools on March 13.

BOOK FAIR IS HERE!

student shopping at book fairShop at school September 24-28 from 8:00-2:00 each day!  Parents are invited to shop at our Family Event on Monday, Sept. 24 from 2:30-4:00 pm!

For extended time, shop online from Monday, September 17 through Friday, October 5 by visiting Blackshear Elementary Online Fair!  All items ship free to our school and will be delivered to your child!

Mentor & Volunteer Training

Volunteer Hands We need YOU to be part of our BES team!  Join us on Friday, August 31 for a brief mentor/volunteer training!

We will not have to make up the days missed due to Hurricane Michael at this time.

Calendar Adjustment: Student Holidays

attentionThe following school days have been changed to student holidays: 

Tuesday, January 8, 2019 and Friday, March 29, 2019

Please take note of this and plan accordingly.  If you have any questions/concerns, please contact the school.

 

**These dates were originally planned to be student holidays on our school calendar.  After recent weather days due to Hurricane Michael, it was announced that students would makeup school on these two student holidays.  That decision has been reversed and the two dates will remain student holidays for the 2018-2019 school year.**

Title I Extravaganza Night

Title I ExtravaganzaParents are invited to join us to learn more about your child's curriculum and grade level expectations!  Please let us know if you will be able to make it.  Dinner will be served following the meeting.

Pierce County Foundation Commemorative Brick Campaign Commemorative Brick Fundraiser

The plaza located at the flagpole of the new PCHS contains approximately 2,500 bricks. These bricks are in two sizes and can be engraved with text of your choosing: your name or family name, support of your alma mater, inspirational quote, or remembrance of a friend or loved one.

Kathy Paul was named Pierce County’s Teacher of the Year in the district's opening session.

BES is a 2018 Title I High Progress Reward School

BES is 2018 Title I High Progress Reward SchoolBES has been named a 2018 High Progress Title I Reward School.  The Georgia Department of Education has recently released designation statuses for Georgia schools.  A High-Progress School is among the 10 percent of the state’s Title I schools making the most progress in improving the performance of the “all students” group over three years on statewide assessments.
